The Stephen Timoshenko Legacy

Later Years

In his later years, S. P. Timoshenko moved to Wuppertal, West Germany to live with his daughter Anna. After relocating to Wuppertal, in 1960, Stephen Timoshenko remained active in his scholarly work. He published a book in 1963 entitled 'Engineering Education in Russia', in addition to writing his autobiography, 'As I Remember', in Russian. This autobiography provides a detailed account of Timoshenko's personal life, his significant contributions to engineering, and his experiences in Russia and as an emigrant from Ukraine.

While Stephen spent his later years in Germany with his daughter, Anna, he continued taking trips to Switzerland.

On 1972 May 29, Stephen Prokofievtich Timoshenko passed away at the age of 93 in his daughter's home in Wuppertal, Germany.
